PROJECT TEAMS DRIVING MIDTOWN OFFICE MARKET
Building contractors to some of Sydney’s major city developments have emerged as prominent tenants in the midtown CBD office precinct, says Ray White Commercial.
Ray White Commercial Office Leasing Director John Skufris said contractors working on sites including 420 George Street and Westfield Centrepoint have been leasing office space while the projects are being completed.
Mr Skufris said management and construction groups, fit out firms, air-conditioning contractors and plumbers have all secured project space within close proximity to Pitt Street Mall.
He said McPherson Plumbing (NSW) Pty Limited has just leased new premises at Level 10, 155 King Street through Ray White Commercial.
“The streets bounded by Market, King, York and Castlereagh streets have been the most highly sought after locations for project space requirements,” Mr Skufris said.
“Tradesmen know property. They know what works for their business and they have the ability to make informed decisions quickly.
“Typically, they may own their own premises outside of the CBD and they have experienced being both a tenant and a landlord.”
Mr Skufris said McPherson Plumbing, which has its head office at Erina on the Central Coast, had leased a partially furnished space at a commencing rate of $648 per sqm gross,” he said.
“This includes existing fit out and built in cabinetry.”
