THE SHOE FITS

Australian owned and operated footwear retailer Wittner Shoes has secured one of its significant CBD retail locations as they prepare for its centenary year in 2012.

Wittner Shoes has renewed its lease at 465 Kent Street from Sydney Flower Market Pty Limited for four years in a deal negotiated by Ray White Commercial Director John Skufris.

The building located at the corner of Kent and Druitt Streets was previously the headquarters for leading Australian florist Roses Only.

“The Wittner Shoes tenancy was transformed from what was a loading dock for Roses Only to a stunning retail outlet,” Mr Skufris said.

“The area enjoys strong pedestrian traffic from Queen Victoria Building, through to Town Hall & Cockle Bay.

“Their lease extension is an excellent outcome for both landlord and tenant.

“It demonstrates confidence in location, product, and market sentiment given its other nearby city stores in George Street, Pitt Street, Mid City and the HSBC centres.”

Mr Skufris said the opening of the 4 – level MidCity and $860 million Westfield Sydney redevelopment, still had not discouraged retailers committing to strip shops as perceived on Oxford Street and in Double Bay.

Wittner Shoes, which was founded in Melbourne in 1912, is an award winning enterprise that specialises in footwear for young women.

The company, which expanded into New South Wales in 1995, is proudly overseen by the third generation of the Wittner family.
