Sydney Light Rail passenger services to start running in the CBD
It is an exciting time for the community, commuters and everyone involved as passenger services on the CBD and South East Light Rail will officially start running between Circular Quay and Randwick on the 14th of December. Trams are anticipated to run approximately every four to eight minutes between circular Quay and Central, and every eight to twelve minutes between Central and Radwick.
Tram timetable testing is underway to prepare for the first weekend of service and pedestrians, motorists and cyclists should be aware that it will be travelling along the alignment with increased frequency. Testing is occuring 24/7 along Anzac parade from Moore Park via Kensington to Kingsford and the public is reminded to look twice before stepping out.
Finishing works are heading towards completion across CBD which includes the completion of kerb footings, Ausgrid works and stormwater works at the Margaret and George Streets intersection, while footpath reinstatement is underway as the start of passenger services draws near. Non-potable water works are now complete and asphalting at Park and Druitt Streets will be undertaken to reinstate the area while the works on Barlow Street have been completed and the road has re-opened to traffic. Red cap painting for the bus lane is also complete around Eddy Avenue, Rawson Place and Pitt Street and crews will be carrying out work to reinstate the footpath.
